Wells, ME— Before PowerCrème had a name, a label or a place on a store shelf, it was something Marina Pensinger made to help nourish herself. Now, the Maine-based founder is bringing it to shoppers across New York City and Maine.
Born in Tallinn, in what was then the Soviet Union, Marina grew up with Russian roots and cottage cheese as a familiar food. She knew it could be smooth and creamy, a texture she would later bring to her own high-protein snack.
The reason to make it came much later. In 2023, after tragically losing her husband, Marina began blending cottage cheese, Greek yogurt and protein as a simple way to feed herself and nourish her body while caring for her two daughters and continuing to run her businesses. She created it out of necessity. The idea of turning it into a business followed.
Today, happily remarried and living in Maine, Marina has brought that recipe into commercial production as PowerCrème: a thick, spoonable cultured dairy snack with 26 grams of protein in each 5.5-ounce jar.
Available in Strawberry and Pineapple, PowerCrème is made for the busy professional eating between meetings, the parent whose own snack comes last, and the fitness-focused shopper looking for convenient protein after a workout. It also welcomes people who want to enjoy cottage cheese but have never liked the curds. There is nothing to blend or prepare. Open the jar and grab a spoon.
Turning the original recipe into a retail product took two years of formulation, manufacturing challenges and shelf-life testing. The first commercial production took place on September 8, 2026. Marina then carried samples into stores herself, visiting more than seventeen locations in two days and receiving two early yeses from Mulberry Market and Westside Market on 77th Street.
PowerCrème is now in nine stores across New York City and Maine. A rollout to all Fairway Market and Gourmet Garage locations is planned by mid Oct.
After years of building service-based businesses, Marina is taking on her first product-based venture with a purpose shaped by personal experience: making high-protein eating more convenient, delicious and satisfying.
What began as a way to nourish herself is now a snack she can share with others navigating their own full lives.
Cottage Cheese Reimagined. No curd. Just Crème.
