CHICAGO, Ill., October 4, 2026 - The Spice Drops, a woman- and minority-owned brand founded by Kajal Puranik, launched in fall 2025 with a concentrated, small-batch chili oil that makes your food spicy without changing the flavor of your food.
The company grew out of a problem Kajal kept running into as a lifelong spice lover. Every hot sauce and chili oil she tried took over the flavor of her food. After years of experimenting in her home kitchen, she developed a proprietary infusion process that concentrates the heat, so a few drops add spice while the dish still tastes like itself.
"I love heat, but I was tired of every hot sauce taking over my food," said Kajal Puranik, founder of The Spice Drops. "I wanted something that just made a dish spicier and nothing else. It took years to get there, and once I did, I knew other people were looking for the same thing."
Kajal later partnered with her close friend Radha Patel to turn the recipe into a brand. Balancing young children and full-time careers, the two designed the product around the reality of cooking for other people, where one person at the table wants serious heat and another wants none at all.
"Most households don't share one heat level. You end up cooking to the lowest tolerance, and the people who love spice get a boring plate," said Radha Patel, Co-Founder of The Spice Drops. "This lets one cook make one dish, and everyone adjusts it in front of them. For people who really chase heat, it means they can push it as far as they want without burying the flavor."
The Spice Drops is made in small batches using only natural ingredients. It is available in a 15 ml travel size at a suggested retail price of $14.99 and a 60 ml bottle at $19.99, with pricing varying by retailer. The compact packaging moves easily from the kitchen counter to the dinner table to a bag, so the oil is on hand wherever the meal happens.
The brand is currently available on their website, Amazon, and at Chicago-area farmers markets. The company plans to launch on TikTok Shop in 2027 and to enter retail in late 2027 or early 2028.
