America’s first bottled water to earn Clean Label Project certification expands its California presence as nationwide direct-to-consumer sales rise 503% and consumer search interest accelerates.
NEW YORK, N.Y. — Chlorophyll Water announces its launch at Total Wine & More locations in California, bringing its signature green water to more shoppers and expanding the brand’s presence in its second-largest state by direct-to-consumer net sales.
The launch comes as Chlorophyll Water reports 503% year-over-year growth in nationwide direct-to-consumer net sales and 211% growth in California, according to company Shopify data for the 12-month period ending in September 2026, compared with the preceding 12 months. With online customers in all 50 states, the company continues to expand retail availability to meet consumers where they shop.
“California has been an important part of the Chlorophyll Water story, and we’re excited to bring the brand to select Total Wine locations,” said Matt Levine, Founder of Chlorophyll Water. “With our California direct-to-consumer sales up 211%, we’re seeing strong demand. This launch gives those customers another convenient place to find us and introduces Chlorophyll Water to new shoppers.”
The expansion arrives alongside growing interest in chlorophyll across search and social platforms with content associated with #Chlorophyll and #ChlorophyllWater has generated more than 1.5 billion views, helping introduce the category to new audiences.
Spate Market Research, an AI-powered consumer trend forecasting platform, reported 62.9% year-over-year growth in Google Search for Chlorophyll Water, alongside 229% growth on TikTok and 70% growth in Instagram posts. Its research, including a report titled “The Chlorophyll Water Phenomenon,” also highlighted 806.8% growth in detox-related searches associated with Chlorophyll Water and more than 1,000% growth in energy- and focus-related searches. These findings reflect the wellness topics driving consumer curiosity and present an opportunity to introduce shoppers to Chlorophyll Water through Total Wine’s beverage selection.
Spate’s research placed chlorophyll among the Top 10 ingredients for increases in Google Search and among the Top 10 for significant growth in its U.S. Popularity Index. Chlorophyll recorded 100.4% year-over-year growth, approximately 5.2 times the broader supplement category’s 19.3% growth rate, and was the only ingredient to appear in both rankings.
Separate market forecasts cited 8.0% compound annual growth for the chlorophyll extract market through 2030, approximately 40% faster than U.S. bottled water’s projected 5.7% growth rate and 56% faster than coconut water’s projected 5.13% growth rate. The company sees this combination of rising consumer interest and projected category expansion as an opportunity to connect online discovery with convenient retail availability.
Chlorophyll Water combines ultra-purified water with chlorophyll sourced from alfalfa and added vegan vitamins A, B12, C and D. Its distinctive green color comes from chlorophyll, while light lemon and spearmint notes provide a refreshing taste. The Non-GMO bottled water beverage offers a convenient, ready-to-drink way to incorporate chlorophyll into an everyday hydration routine, without the measuring or mess of adding liquid chlorophyll drops.
Independent testing and ingredient transparency remain central to the brand. Chlorophyll Water became the first bottled water in the United States to pass Clean Label Project certification and has earned certification for four consecutive years. Independent third-party testing screens for more than 90 contaminants, including heavy metals, pesticide residues and plasticizers. The company also makes laboratory results available on its website.
The company’s sustainability efforts include bottles made from 100% recycled plastic with CleanFlake™ label technology, designed to support PET recycling. Through its partnership with rePurpose Global, Chlorophyll Water funds the recovery of plastic equivalent to one bottle for every bottle sold. The brand has also introduced 16-ounce aluminum cans alongside its existing bottle lineup.
Chlorophyll Water’s expansion follows national media and industry recognition, including a Beverage Industry magazine cover feature, Spate’s 2026 Top Trending Brand recognition, and a No. 9 ranking among more than 90,000 brands on RangeMe’s Top 50 Food & Beverage list. Additional recognition includes finalist honors for the California Grocers Association’s Emerging Brand of the Year, Startup CPG’s Shelfie Awards in the Beverage with Benefits category, and The Beverage Forum’s Ones to Watch, along with selection to compete for Emerging Brand of the Year at Kroger’s Nourishing Change Conference.
“Every new retail location helps us turn consumer interest into an opportunity to try Chlorophyll Water,” added Levine. “We’re grateful to the Total Wine team for the opportunity and excited to continue growing in California.”
