Casa Lotos, an ultra-premium sotol rooted in the wild landscapes and rich heritage of Northern Mexico, is launching El Camino Norteño, a new multi-city cocktail program debuting during Sotol Week, October 13-17. Spanning New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami and Denver, the Casa Lotos-owned initiative invites drinkers on a journey into sotol, Mexico's undiscovered spirit. The program will be featured at some of the country’s most exciting bars and restaurants, allowing guests to discover Casa Lotos and this new category one cocktail at a time.
Throughout the week, participating venues will offer exclusive Casa Lotos cocktails for just $10, creating an approachable way to discover the spirit at leading cocktail destinations. Consumers can chart their own course along El Camino Norteño, stopping into one or several participating bars throughout the week to experience each venue’s interpretation of Casa Lotos.
Designed as an annual Casa Lotos platform, El Camino Norteño brings the spirit of discovery, at the heart of Sotol Week, to life through a cocktail trail inspired by the landscapes, flavors and culture unique to Northern Mexico. As an extension of the consumer program, select media and content creators in each market will receive El Camino Norteño passports, encouraging them to follow the trail, collect stamps at participating venues and share their journey along the way.
The program supports the broader mission of Sotol Week, an industry-wide initiative created to build greater awareness and understanding of sotol as a spirits category. Bringing together producers, brands, bars and restaurants, the annual celebration introduces trade and consumers to sotol’s history, cultural significance, regional diversity, production methods and distinctive flavor profiles, while encouraging discovery through cocktails, tastings and other on-premise experiences.
“Sotol Week gives the entire category an opportunity to come together and help more people understand what makes this spirit so special,” says Aaron Dujovne, Co-Founder and Director of Operations at Casa Lotos. “With El Camino Norteño, we wanted to build on that mission in a way that makes discovery fun and easy. It invites people to explore inventive sotol cocktails at some of the country’s most exciting bars while celebrating Northern Mexican heritage at the heart of Casa Lotos.”
The launch builds on Casa Lotos’s participation in last year’s Sotol Week in New York City, where more than 70 bars and restaurants took part in the broader celebration. This year, El Camino Norteño marks a new chapter for Casa Lotos: a proprietary consumer platform designed to return annually during Sotol Week.
The program will also support the hospitality community at the heart of the initiative. In celebration of Sotol Week, Casa Lotos will be making a donation to Another Round Another Rally, helping the non-profit provide financial and educational resources to hospitality workers across the country.
Crafted in Chihuahua, Mexico, Casa Lotos offers a distinctive expression of sotol rooted in the traditions of Northern Mexico and the terroir of the Chihuahuan Desert. Made from wild Dasylirion, the plant is hand harvested by the fourth-generation Ruelas family and slowly cooked in a custom, solar-powered brick oven, fermented in the open air with native yeast and twice distilled in traditional copper stills. This modern approach allows Casa Lotos to deliver the purest expression of the sotol plant and its desert terroir. The result is a smooth, nuanced spirit with an earthy, herbaceous character, sophisticated enough to sip neat and expressive enough to elevate classic and contemporary serves.
Sotol is earning its own place on cocktail menus, and El Camino Norteño puts its versatility in the hands of bartenders across five markets, giving each participating venue an opportunity to showcase its own interpretation of Casa Lotos.
“Bartenders are playing an essential role in introducing consumers to sotol, using their menus and cocktails as a way to educate drinkers about what makes the spirit so unique,” says Carla Verenzuela, Head of Brand Development at Casa Lotos. “El Camino Norteño builds on that momentum by bringing together bartenders across the country and inviting consumers to discover sotol through the cocktails they create.”

About Casa Lotos
Casa Lotos, an award-winning, premium sotol handcrafted in Chihuahua, Mexico, is introducing a new generation of drinkers to one of North America's oldest spirits. Each bottle begins with a wild Dasylirion hand harvested by the fourth-generation Ruelas family. The plant is then cooked in a solar powered brick oven, fermented in native pine, and double-distilled in copper pot stills. Rooted in Northern Mexican heritage and guided by responsible stewardship of the Chihuahuan Desert, Casa Lotos is a smooth, versatile spirit enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a craft cocktail.
