Two of the world's most iconic snacking olives, Kalamata from Greece and Castelvetrano from Sicily, pressed into two single-varietal extra virgin olive oils that taste exactly like where they're from.

LOS ANGELES, CA, Jun. 17, 2026 – Brightland, the California brand known for its artfully designed, fine pantry essentials, today announced The Mediterranean Capsule: a limited-edition release of two single-varietal extra virgin olive oils, each sourced from the region whose olive it is named for. The Capsule pairs the return of Brightland's twice sold-out Castelvetrano — milled from hand-harvested Nocellara del Belice olives in western Sicily — with the debut of a single-varietal Kalamata, pressed from olives grown on ancestral farms in the Greek Peloponnese. Both are available now at brightland.co and limited retail stores, individually and as The Mediterranean Duo.

KALAMATA EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

Pressed from Kalamata olives hand-harvested early, while still green, on ancestral family farms in the southern Peloponnese. Bold and lush, it opens with fresh-cut grass and green tomato leaf, moves through artichoke and almond skin, and finishes long, bright, and pleasantly bitter — the kind of bitterness that makes you reach for bread. Pairs beautifully with Greek salad dressed at the table, grilled lamb, bitter greens, grains, and aged cheese.

CASTELVETRANO EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

Pressed from Nocellara del Belice olives — the variety behind the famous Castelvetrano snacking olive. These olives are grown nowhere else and hand-harvested early from heritage groves in Sicily's Valle del Belice. Bright and refined, it lifts with clean grass and citrus peel into a peppery finish that never overpowers. It is the one that makes everything taste more like itself. Pairs beautifully with grilled fish, summer vegetables, burrata, simple pastas, and focaccia for dipping.
