Tracking CPG Growth: Q3 US Retail Launches

CPG retail launch activity accelerated throughout Q3 2026, but the underlying data reveals an important distinction between new product innovation and distribution expansion. Calebrate’s latest report tracks 1,403 announced retail launches across more than 160 retailers, with weekly launch activity increasing from 88 in July to 112 in September. Much of that growth came from existing products expanding into additional retailers and stores rather than entirely new products entering the market. Meanwhile, category momentum shifted, with candy and ice cream gaining share as protein-related launches lost ground.
The report also highlights diverging retailer strategies and the growing importance of seasonal innovation, limited editions and brand collaborations. Target and Whole Foods emerged as important destinations for new product introductions, while Walmart and Costco played a larger role in expanding distribution for existing products. An examination of emerging and scaling brands reveals how companies are using seasonal launches, strategic partnerships and regional retail expansion to build their presence. Together, these findings offer a more detailed view of where CPG brands are gaining retail traction, how expansion strategies are evolving and what the latest launch patterns suggest about the competitive landscape heading into Q4.
