Inspired by Skye's Volcanic Origins, the Collectible Release Showcases the Influence of Magma Stone Toasted Cask Finishing on Isle of Skye Whisky

Edinburgh (October 7, 2026) - Isle of Skye Whisky is tapping into the volcanic origins of its namesake island with the launch of Isle of Skye Magma Stone Toasted, a rare limited-edition blended Scotch whisky finished using an innovative magma stone toasted cask technique. Bottled at 46% ABV and available for an SRP of $47, the new expression delivers a rich, remarkably silky whisky layered with toasted oak, dark fruit, vanilla and peat.

Magma stone is a volcanic rock formed as molten rock cools and solidifies, a fitting link to the dramatic landscape of Skye, where ancient volcanic activity helped shape the island’s mountains and distinctive rock formations over millions of years. That geological heritage is brought into the whisky-making process through a distinctive approach to cask finishing. Rather than relying on conventional direct-fire toasting, heated volcanic stone radiates heat evenly inside the cask, activating the oak more slowly and gently. The controlled process seasons the casks to create a smoother, richer whisky with a velvety texture and layers of flavor.

For Isle of Skye, the use of this technique represents a new approach to cask finishing while remaining rooted in the wild island landscape that has inspired the whisky for generations. The result builds upon the brand’s signature balance of fruit and smoke, introducing notes of dark fruit, vanilla and green apple alongside toasted oak and rich peat. Produced as a limited edition, Magma Stone Toasted also offers collectors and Scotch drinkers a rare opportunity to experience a one-off expression with a distinctive origin story and finishing method unlike anything previously released in the Isle of Skye range.

“Magma Stone Toasted gave us an opportunity to do something we have never done before with Isle of Skye, while still staying true to the character of the whisky,” said John Glass, Master Blender for Isle of Skye. “Using heated volcanic stone to toast the casks allows the oak to develop more gently, creating exceptional silkiness, depth and layers of flavor while drawing a direct line back to the landscape of Skye.”

At 46% ABV, Magma Stone Toasted is the highest-ABV expression in the Isle of Skye range, giving the whisky additional flavor intensity while preserving the smoothness at the heart of the release. The finishing technique brings forward dark fruit sweetness and toasted oak before giving way to chocolate orange, sandalwood and rich peat, culminating in a long finish of vanilla, peat and oak.

The launch continues a period of exploration for Isle of Skye, building on expressions including Double Smoke, Cigar Reserve and Rum Cask Finish, each showcasing a different dimension of the brand’s signature island character. With its limited availability, innovative finishing technique and direct connection to Skye’s volcanic history, Magma Stone Toasted is designed to stand apart within the range as both a distinctive drinking experience and a collectible release.

Isle of Skye Magma Stone Toasted carries a suggested retail price of $47 and will be available for a limited time at Total Wine & More stores nationwide. For more information or to join the Isle of Skye family, please visit the website.
