America’s First Bottled Water to Achieve Clean Label Project Certification Continues Its Commitment to Product Purity, Transparency and Clean Functional Hydration
NEW YORK, NY — Chlorophyll Water, a pioneer of the chlorophyll beverage category, has earned Clean Label Project Certification for the fourth consecutive year, reinforcing the brand’s ongoing commitment to rigorous third-party testing and product transparency.
In 2022, Chlorophyll Water became the first bottled water in the United States to achieve Clean Label Project Certification, establishing a new standard for transparency within the bottled water and functional beverage categories.
The newly issued Certificate of Compliance confirms that Chlorophyll Water’s independently reviewed documentation and testing results meet the requirements of the Clean Label Project Code of Practice.
As part of the certification process, products are independently purchased from retailers across the United States and third-party tested for chemicals of concern that are commonly overlooked by traditional product labels. Clean Label Project’s testing program includes screening for heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury; more than 300 pesticide residues, including glyphosate; and plasticizers such as BPA, BPS and phthalates. The precise scope of testing may vary by product category.
“Four consecutive years of certification demonstrate Chlorophyll Water’s continued commitment to transparency, quality assurance and ongoing compliance,” said Molly Hamilton, Executive Director of Clean Label Project. “Clean Label Project Certification recognizes products that voluntarily undergo independent testing for industrial and environmental contaminants and meet our rigorous certification requirements.”
“Becoming the first bottled water in the United States to earn Clean Label Project Certification was an incredibly meaningful achievement for us, but maintaining that certification year after year is what truly demonstrates our commitment,” said Matt Levine, Founder of Chlorophyll Water. “Consumers deserve greater transparency and confidence in the products they drink every day. Earning this certification for the fourth consecutive year reflects the standards we set for ourselves and our continued dedication to clean, functional hydration. Personally, I believe Clean Label Project Certification is one of the most meaningful certifications a brand can achieve. It is something I actively look for when shopping and evaluating products on grocery shelves.”
Clean Label Project Certification evaluates individual products through independent laboratory testing and a review process designed to provide consumers with greater transparency regarding product quality and purity. Products are purchased through retail channels and submitted to an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited analytical laboratory, with certification evaluations conducted against applicable standards and category-specific data.
Chlorophyll Water has remained certified under the program since March 23, 2022. Its Certificate of Compliance is renewed annually to confirm that the product continues to meet the requirements of the Clean Label Project Code of Practice.
Chlorophyll Water combines purified water with chlorophyll derived from alfalfa and is fortified with vitamins A, B12, C and D. The refreshing functional beverage provides consumers with a convenient way to incorporate chlorophyll, essential vitamins and enhanced hydration into their daily routines.
“Sustainability and transparency have been at the core of Chlorophyll Water from the beginning,” Levine added. “As the brand continues to grow, we remain committed to delivering a product consumers can trust while continuing to raise expectations for the bottled water category.”
Chlorophyll Water is available nationwide at thousands of retail locations, including Bristol Farms, Earth Fare, Erewhon, GIANT, Harris Teeter, Hy-Vee, Meijer, Pavilions, select Walmart stores, Wegmans and Whole Foods Market locations in the Northeast. The brand is also available through Amazon, Faire—where Chlorophyll Water has been recognized as a Top Shop—TikTok Shop, where it ranks among the platform’s Top 1% of stores, and ChlorophyllWater.com.
