Brussels, [26/06/2026] – Natural Mineral Waters Europe (NMWE) is pleased to announce that Mr Alessandro Pasquale was re-elected President of the association for a third consecutive term at the Annual General Meeting held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 18 June 2026. As the third-generation owner and Executive President at Mattoni 1873, Central Europe's leading producer of mineral waters and soft drinks, Mr Pasquale brings a real passion for natural mineral waters and a wealth of first-hand expertise.
Since becoming the association’s President in 2022, Mr Pasquale has been an ardent supporter of the circular economy within the beverage sector, promoting effective collection through deposit-refund systems and closed-loop recycling to maximise the use of high-quality recycled materials in beverage packaging.
Alessandro Pasquale: “I am thankful for the continued trust placed in me by my fellow Board members. It is an honour for me to represent a sector with strong and genuine sustainability and social economic credentials, providing natural and healthy hydration, and sustaining jobs and local services in many rural areas across Europe. I look forward to continuing the excellent collaboration with the NMWE board, the members, the secretariat and the wider community.”
Under his leadership, NMWE, representing over 500 producers and more than 900 production sites across Europe, has continued to promote sustainable source management and environmental protection, recognising the unique bond between natural mineral and spring waters and the natural environments from which they originate.
As President, Alessandro Pasquale will continue to lead NMWE in its mission to protect and promote natural mineral and spring waters, while strengthening the sector's contribution to sustainable water management, biodiversity protection, circularity and healthy hydration.
During this new mandate, he will continue to work alongside NMWE members to ensure that the sector remains a trusted partner in shaping a competitive, resilient and sustainable future for Europe.
Patricia Fosselard, Secretary General of NMWE, welcomed the decision of the membership:
“We are thankful for Mr Pasquale’s personal commitment to NMWE and the sector. Under his previous mandates, NMWE stepped up its action towards effective source and biodiversity protection and closed-loop packaging circularity, in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders. We look forward to achieving new ambitious milestones under his leadership, with the support of NMWE’s Board.”
He will be supported by the newly elected Board, including Vice-Presidents Ettore Fortuna (Mineracqua, Italy), Jasna Cacic (GIUPPH, Croatia) and Antoine Portmann (Danone), and Treasurer Jürgen Reichle (VDM, Germany), reflecting the continued engagement and commitment of NMWE members in guiding the association’s work.
His re-election reflects the confidence of NMWE members in his leadership and their shared commitment to addressing the opportunities and challenges facing the sector in the years ahead.
