New Partnership Strengthens Its Italian Portfolio with Estate-Grown, Vintage Prosecco from Historic Veneto Estate
New York, NY – October 21, 2026 - Gonzalez Byass USA, a leading importer and marketer of premium wines & spirits from around the world, announces that it has been named the U.S. importer of Villa Marcello, an estate-grown Prosecco DOC from Treviso, Veneto. The partnership expands González Byass USA’s representation of Italy while bringing an estate-led Prosecco to the U.S. market, with Villa Marcello Millesimato Brut.
Located in the commune of Treviso, within the Prosecco DOC area and close to the well-known Conegliano zone, Villa Marcello is a historic Venetian estate whose origins date to the 17th century, when it was built as a hunting lodge surrounded by woodland. The estate's wine history began in the 19th century, when Elisabetta Galvani Onigo planted the first vines on the property. Her descendants, Alessandra and Andriana Marcello, continued the family's connection to the estate, which today is the wine project of Giovanni Mazzei, Alessandra's son.
Mazzei has brought the experience of his family to his mother's historic estate, developing a Prosecco project centered on estate-grown fruit, traceability and a clear sense of origin. Rather than positioning Prosecco solely as an aperitif, Villa Marcello focuses on structure, finesse and the expression of its vineyard site.
“Prosecco is an important and dynamic category in the U.S. market, and Villa Marcello gives us an opportunity to represent the category through the lens of a historic estate with a strong sense of place,” says Andrew Sinclair, CEO of González Byass USA. “Its estate-grown fruit, Millesimato production and connection to both the Marcello and Mazzei families make it a distinctive addition to our Italian portfolio. We are excited to introduce Villa Marcello to the U.S. market and further strengthen our representation of Italy.”
Villa Marcello is produced as Millesimato, meaning the grapes are harvested from a single vintage. Unlike non-vintage Prosecco, this approach gives each release a more specific identity and allows it to reflect the conditions of the individual growing season. The winemaking combines modern and traditional techniques to preserve the floral and fruit-driven character of Glera while maintaining freshness and finesse.
The addition of Villa Marcello further establishes González Byass USA’s commitment to representing distinctive Italian wines with strong regional identity and a deep commitment to the environment. With the Millesimato Brut, the company enters the Prosecco category with an estate-grown expression that combines Veneto heritage, vineyard provenance and a refined approach to production.
