The Maine-based spirits brand expands its coastal exploration with an unapologetically bold culinary vodka made with reclaimed Maine lobster shells.
PORTLAND, Maine (October 15, 2026) - Bold Coast Spirits today opens pre-orders for the limited release of its newest expression, Lobster Vodka, a savory 80-proof culinary vodka made with reclaimed Maine lobster and designed for the kitchen and the bar.
The second coastal expression from Bold Coast Spirits, Lobster Vodka builds on the brand’s mission to capture the character and flavors of Maine’s coast, this time through lobster shells sourced from Luke’s Lobster, the Portland, Maine-based seafood company.
Available in a 355 mL (12 fl oz) bottle for $29.99, Lobster Vodka has a pronounced, savory lobster character with buttery notes. One bottle moves easily between the pantry and the bar, bringing concentrated flavor to everything from sauces and chowders to a signature Bloody Mary.
“There is so much flavor left in a lobster after the meat has been picked, and that was really the starting point for us,” says Jay Lombard, Co-Founder of Bold Coast Spirits. “We wanted to find a way to save that flavor and give it another life. The result is something that feels equally at home on a bar top or in the pantry.”
According to Luke’s Lobster, only about 20–25% of a whole lobster’s weight is typically eaten. After the meat has been picked, the shells still hold a rich flavor. Bold Coast captures that remaining flavor in a shelf-stable culinary spirit, giving the lobster more use beyond the plate.
Developed for Bloody Marys, Lobster Vodka also brings savory lobster flavor to pasta sauce, chowder and risotto, giving home cooks ways to use the same bottle in cocktails and cooking. A signature “Bold Coast Bloody Mary” recipe is printed on the bottle label.
The release follows the debut of Oyster Shell Vodka, Bold Coast Spirits’ first exploration of “merroir,” or the idea that the Maine coast can shape the character of a spirit. Oyster Shell Vodka is rested on reclaimed cracked oyster shells from Maine oyster farms, lending the finished vodka subtle minerality, texture and a long, dry finish.
Both expressions reflect Bold Coast’s interest in finding value in often overlooked ingredients, giving reclaimed oyster and lobster shells a new use.
