KIRBY, Wyo. (Oct. 12, 2026) –– Wyoming Whiskey today announced Queen of the Tetons Second Edition, a limited-edition bourbon honoring Grizzly 399, the legendary bear who was killed in a car accident near Grand Teton National Park on Oct. 22, 2024. The release arrives ahead of the second anniversary of her death, and for the first time, whiskey fans across the country can bring a bottle home.
An icon of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, Grizzly 399 drew photographers and visitors from around the world for nearly three decades. At 28 years old, she was the region's oldest known reproducing female grizzly, spending much of her life near the Snake River and raising 18 known cubs. Two years later, her story is still being told.
"It's been two years and people still stop us to talk about 399. She belonged to this place. This bottle keeps her story alive, and carries it to those who never got to see her," said Wyoming Whiskey co-founder David DeFazio.
Queen of the Tetons Second Edition is released in alignment with the film 399 Forever, directed by Alex Stavrou, a documentary about the final year of Grizzly 399's life and the community that formed around her. The film will be available on demand via Amazon Prime Video October 16. Wyoming Whiskey is proud to support the film and help carry her story to a wider audience.
In conjunction with the release, Wyoming Whiskey will donate $5 from every bottle sold to the Grand Teton National Park Foundation to support grizzly bear education, conservation and research programs in Grand Teton National Park.
The bottle features two images of Grizzly 399: one on the front by photographer Savannah Rose and one on the back by Thomas Mangelsen. Fewer than 1,000 bottles were produced.
Online orders open October 16th at wyomingwhiskey.com, with shipping available to most states. Bottles will also be available starting October 16th at Wyoming Whiskey's Jackson Barrel House (45 W. Broadway, Jackson, WY 83001), the Wyoming Whiskey Shop in Kirby (120 E. Main, Kirby, WY 82430) and select retailers across Wyoming. 49.5% ABV, 99 proof. SRP $79.99.
