Sockerbit, the Swedish candy company that first brought Swedish Pick & Mix to the U.S. in 2010, today announced a new partnership with Sprouts Farmers Market, a leading natural and organic grocery retailer in the U.S. Beginning this month, Sockerbit will launch across both packaged and bulk formats, with packaged candy arriving in nearly 500 Sprouts stores nationwide in October and a Swedish Pick & Mix program debuting today in 17 stores across California and Florida.
Rooted in a longstanding Swedish candy tradition, Pick & Mix invites shoppers to choose individual candies from a wide assortment to create their own mix. This Sockerbit x Sprouts initiative marks the first Swedish Pick & Mix experience at a national natural grocery retailer, bringing a ritual centered on choice, discovery, sharing, and joy to a new audience.
At the 17 Sprouts locations, shoppers can create their own mix from 12 varieties, including four exclusive to Sprouts, available in the bulk department. Sprouts will also carry a 12-SKU assortment of Sockerbit packaged candy nationwide, all reflecting the brand’s commitment to ingredient quality, with no high-fructose corn syrup, no Red 40, and products made with natural flavors and colors.
“This launch is especially meaningful to me because Pick & Mix has always been part of how I grew up with candy,” said Stefan Ernberg, Co-Founder of Sockerbit. “My 85-year-old mother has been taking part in this tradition for nearly 75 years and still does today. It’s about choosing your favorites, trying something new, and sharing the experience with the people around you. Bringing that tradition to Sprouts gives us the opportunity to share a piece of Swedish candy culture with so many more people across the U.S.”
The partnership also introduces several new additions to Sockerbit’s assortment. The Dream Series, Sockerbit’s best-selling line of soft, aerated foam candy, is expanding beyond its original Strawberry Dream flavor for the first time. New Banana Dream and Sour Berry Dream join the collection, with both flavors available exclusively in Sprouts bulk.
Sockerbit Mallows are also making their grocery debut at Sprouts, led by Sour Peach, an entirely new flavor launching exclusively with the retailer. Eight varieties of Sockerbit’s snack- and share-size candies round out the packaged assortment.
“A sour mallow is harder to make than it sounds,” said Florence Baras, Co-Founder of Sockerbit. “The sugar coating has to be light enough that the sour hits first and then gives way to the peach, and the swirl of color has to look like the flavor tastes. We kept reworking Sour Peach until those things happened in the right order.”
Sprouts operates in 25 states and with over 480 locations. The 17 Sockerbit x Sprouts Pick & Mix locations are listed on Sockerbit's website.
ABOUT SOCKERBIT
Sockerbit, Swedish for “sugar cube,” was founded in 2010 by Florence Baras and Stefan Ernberg, a couple who met while working at a European candy company. Their love of candy - and of each other - brought them to the U.S., where Sockerbit became the first to introduce the Swedish lördagsgodis tradition of Saturday pick-and-mix candy to America in 2010, sharing high-quality sweets and a beloved weekly ritual with an American audience.
For more than 16 years, Sockerbit has worked with some of the best candy makers in the world, combining deep confectionery expertise with a distinctly Sockerbit point of view. Quality comes first, from better ingredients - including natural flavors, natural colors, and no high-fructose corn syrup - to interesting flavor profiles, distinctive textures, and a constant drive to evolve what Swedish candy can be.
Sockerbit opened its first flagship store in New York City in 2010, followed by Los Angeles in 2014. Today, the brand is available in more than 4,500 retail locations nationwide, including Target, Sprouts, H-E-B, Wegmans, World Market, and Nordstrom. Sockerbit will open its newest retail store in Pasadena, California, in late 2026.
