Nine heirloom corns in one bottle, one decade in the making

Shelbyville, KY - Jeptha Creed Distillery, the award-winning Kentucky craft distillery owned by mother-daughter duo Joyce and Autumn Nethery, celebrates a decade of innovation and craftsmanship with the launch of Jeptha Creed Solera Aged Bourbon. Known for its “Our Farm to Your Glass” commitment and use of heirloom corn, Jeptha Creed brings together whiskey made from every heirloom corn varietal the distillery has grown, capturing years of farming, distilling and experimentation in a single bottle.

Since opening in 2016, Jeptha Creed has made heirloom corn central to its approach to whiskey-making. Grown on the distillery’s family farms in Shelby County, Kentucky, these distinctive non-GMO corn varietals have given Jeptha Creed the opportunity to explore how individual grains can shape the character of bourbon. So far, the distillery has grown and distilled nine varietals: Bloody Butcher, Bruce’s Blue, Blue Clarage, Hopi Blue, Hickory King, Jimmy Red, Oaxacan Green, Pink Heirloom and White Cob White.

For the 10th anniversary, Jeptha Creed is uniting all nine for the first time through a Solera aging process, systematically transferring younger bourbon into older barrels and allowing the corn varietals to integrate and develop together as they age. The process layers the distinct characteristics of each varietal over time, creating a singular expression that reflects the breadth of Jeptha Creed’s work with heirloom corn.

“When we started the distillery ten years ago, we knew we wanted to build something that began with the land and the grain we grow here on our family farm,” said Joyce Nethery, Master Distiller and CEO of Jeptha Creed Distillery. “Over the years, we’ve learned something new from each whiskey release along the way. This Solera Aged Bourbon represents a decade of hard work, dedication and patience. It’s a reflection of where we started, how far we’ve come and what makes Jeptha Creed who we are today.”

Bottled at 100 proof, Jeptha Creed Solera Aged Bourbon is crafted from a mash bill of 75% heirloom corn, 20% malted rye and 5% malted barley. It will debut at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, September 10-13, before becoming available for purchase on-site at Jeptha Creed Distillery and through its online shop beginning September 17. The release will also be featured as part of the distillery’s 10th anniversary celebrations, culminating with the Jammin’ at Jeptha concert featuring Rodney Atkins on October 10.

Jeptha Creed Solera Aged Bourbon (MSRP: $79.99) will be available in 750ml bottles at the Distillery Visitor Center & Online Shop.
