  • Research reveals that the majority of protein shake drinkers are bored of them and find them claggy and artificial

  • Challenge comes as JUCED launches new brand platform “Clean Protein” and Pineapple and Passionfruit flavour

  • “It’s time to call out protein shakes for what they are - unhealthy, claggy and sugary. JUCED is here to take them to task”

LONDON, UK, 10th June 2026 - JUCED, the UK’s first fruit-based protein drink, today lays down the gauntlet to protein shakes as it launches CLEAN PROTEIN and its brand new Pineapple and Passionfruit flavour.

For too long, gymgoers and athletes have relied on claggy, chalky and artificial shakes to get their protein hit. But they are fed up of it, according to new research out today from JUCED, which polled almost 600 protein shake drinkers. Nearly seven out of ten (68 percent) said drinking protein shakes is a bit of a chore, difficult to digest or too heavy on their stomach. Only one in four (26 percent) said that they didn’t find them claggy, artificial and sugary.

Worries about the ingredients used in protein shakes clearly abound, with only 20 percent claiming they have no concerns about what goes into them. And nine in ten (91 percent) admitted they prefer to get their nutrition from more real sources than processed shakes, and half (50 percent) said that it felt more like a necessity than something they enjoy.

And, to add insult to injury, only three in ten people (30 percent) claimed they have been able to get rid of the dreaded shaker stink.

Such is the boredom with protein shakes that only seven percent said they wouldn’t be up for an alternative if it gave the same nutritional benefits. And only six percent said they would stick with shakes if there was something that delivered protein in a lighter, more refreshing format.

This is why JUCED exists - to give those consumers a genuine, tasty and refreshing alternative to the stodgy shakes they are forced to take on today. It’s made from real fruit, contains 15g of protein and has no added sugars or artificial flavours. Crucially, it isn’t a shake or an artificial water.

And today it launches its new brand platform, “Clean Protein,” along with a brand new flavour - Pineapple and Passionfruit. There is no massive science or cleverness to Clean Protein - it’s simply what it is. Goodbye bloatedness. Goodbye chalky taste. Goodbye to the shaker stink, even after scrubbing. Hello refreshment, hello flavour.

With the UK protein supplements market alone predicted to grow by 50 per cent to $326 million by 2030, JUCED has arrived to address a real issue in the industry.

Jed Thirkettle, Founder and CEO of JUCED said: “As someone who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy aged eight, taking on protein has always been a priority, but it was a chore. For years, I was having to chug down these gloopy, stodgy shakes that left me feeling bloated and unsatisfied. And don’t get me started on the stink from my shaker. And the research shows I’m not alone. I felt there had to be another way, which is why I founded JUCED. It’s simple, it’s clean and it takes away all the negatives that come with drinking shakes. It’s time to call out protein shakes for what they are - unhealthy, claggy and sugary. JUCED is here to take them to task.”
