SEATTLE, WA – August 14, 2026 — Precept Wine & Spirits, a leading privately held wine and spirits producer, today announced it has acquired the Miller Family Wine Company brand portfolio of wines. The Miller Family Wine Company is a Santa Barbara, California-based producer known for its portfolio of premium and national wine brands as well as a substantial private label business.
The acquisition includes brand trademarks, finished goods inventory, bulk wine, and private label business, strengthening Precept's foothold in the California market with an established, scalable portfolio. The deal adds several of the region’s most recognized brands to the Precept umbrella, including Butternut, the portfolio's largest-volume brand, Hand on Heart, Ballard Lane and J. Wilkes, known for its appellation-driven, 90+ point wines.

The Miller Family’s renowned estate vineyards, including Bien Nacido Vineyard and French Camp Vineyard, will continue to be owned and operated by the Miller family. Precept will source fruit from these vineyards for existing national and private label brands. There are no changes planned to the existing wholesale distribution network for either company at this time. BMO acted as a financial advisor to The Miller Family in this transaction.
