About
The Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation is a federally recognized Native American tribe operating Séka Hills, a premium agricultural enterprise in Northern California's Capay Valley. The tribe, whose name means 'Home by the Spring Water' in their native Patwin language, has been the historical inhabitants of the Capay Valley for thousands of years. Séka Hills, meaning 'blue hills' in Patwin, represents their commitment to honoring their ancestral homeland while producing world-class agricultural products. The operation spans over 25,000 acres, making it one of the most diverse farming operations in Yolo County and one of the few tribes with expanding agriculture in California. Their product portfolio includes certified extra virgin olive oils, estate wines, wildflower honey, nuts, beef offerings, pickled asparagus, balsamic vinegars, and body care products. The tribe's agricultural practices are rooted in environmental stewardship and sustainability, reflecting their sacred commitment to the land and future generations. Séka Hills products have gained national recognition, being featured in prestigious publications including USA Today, The New York Times, Food & Wine, Epicurious, The Kitchn, Sunset Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal. Their extra virgin olive oils are particularly acclaimed, with USA Today noting they produce 'some of the best extra-virgin olive oil in the world.' The operation includes a tasting room and offers wine club memberships, events, and educational experiences. The tribe's approach to agriculture combines traditional ecological knowledge with modern sustainable farming techniques, emphasizing their role as stewards of the Capay Valley's natural resources. Their products are estate-grown on tribal land, ensuring complete control over quality and sustainability practices from cultivation to final product.
