Founded in 1967, VEDEQSA is a Spanish specialty chemical manufacturer focused on developing and producing additives and ingredient solutions for the food and cosmetic industries. Part of the LAMIRSA GROUP, the company has built its reputation over more than five decades through continuous innovation, rigorous quality standards, and a strong technical services infrastructure that supports customers across local and international markets.

VEDEQSA's most significant contribution to the industry is the development and commercialization of LAE® (Ethyl lauroyl arginate HCl), a broad-spectrum antimicrobial molecule recognized as a major innovation in food preservation. LAE® is effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, moulds, and yeasts, and is readily metabolized in the digestive tract into natural components — arginine, lauric acid, and ethanol. Extensive toxicological studies conducted by Huntingdon Life Sciences confirmed its safety profile, enabling regulatory approvals in the European Union, USA, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Turkey, and under the CODEX framework.

Beyond LAE®-based preservatives, VEDEQSA manufactures a comprehensive portfolio of food and cosmetic additives including preservatives, stabilizers, acidulants, and antioxidants. The company has further expanded its offerings through a dedicated line of microencapsulated additives designed for the bakery, tortilla, confectionery, and meat industries. Microencapsulation technology is employed to optimize the functional performance of preservatives and acidulants within these specific processing environments.

VEDEQSA operates fully equipped laboratories featuring advanced chromatographic, spectroscopic, and microbiological technologies. Its R&D&i department comprises specialists in food science and cosmetic formulation who collaborate directly with customers to develop sector-specific solutions. A pilot plant for meat product processing allows the technical team to evaluate and validate dosing levels, application points, and finished product shelf life on behalf of clients, providing a hands-on applied research capability that distinguishes the company from commodity ingredient suppliers.

The company holds an extensive suite of certifications. Its Quality Management System has been ISO 9001 certified since 2001, covering the design, production management, and marketing of food and cosmetic ingredients. ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System certifications have been maintained since 2014. The LAMIRSA GROUP holds ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification since 2003. Product-level certifications include Kosher, Halal, and RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) for select food and cosmetic ingredients, as well as Ecocert, Cosmos, and Natrue certifications specific to the cosmetic sector. All products are allergen-free and GMO-free, meeting the sourcing requirements of both retail-facing and industrial CPG manufacturers.
