Syncopated Brewing Company

Syncopated Brewing is a craft brewery and taproom located in Lakewood, California, founded by Jason 'Dutch' Van Fleet, who is also known for Dutch's BrewHouse in Bixby Knolls. Operating out of Unit C1 in Lakewood, the brewery focuses on small-batch beer production spanning every style imaginable, from classic ales and lagers to more experimental and rotating seasonal offerings. The taproom is an all-ages, dog-friendly establishment with a relaxed, community-oriented atmosphere that reflects the personality of its founder. The tap list rotates frequently and is maintained in real time on Untappd, allowing patrons to check current offerings before visiting. Syncopated Brewing positions itself as a neighborhood destination with a casual, welcoming environment — a larger-footprint evolution of Van Fleet's earlier Bixby Knolls concept, offering more space while retaining the same distinctive, irreverent character. The brewery hosts rotating food trucks, special beer release events, and community gatherings on a weekly basis, making it a hub for local craft beer culture. Outside food is permitted when no food truck is on-site, further reinforcing the taproom's community-first ethos. Open six days a week — closed Mondays — the operation targets local craft beer enthusiasts and the broader Southern California beer community. While the brewery is primarily a taproom-focused business serving direct-to-consumer pints on-site, its rotating small-batch production model demonstrates a commitment to variety and brewing experimentation. The brewery describes itself as striving to remain as sustainable as possible and giving back to the community, suggesting involvement in local initiatives. As a craft brewery producing small-batch beers across a wide range of styles, Syncopated Brewing appeals to both casual beer drinkers and dedicated craft enthusiasts in the greater Long Beach and Lakewood area.
