About
Strange Craft Beer Company is a Denver-based craft brewery and taproom that opened in May 2010 near Mile High Stadium, making it the first taproom brewery in the city at the time of its founding. Operating initially on a one-barrel brewing system, the company has grown to a 10-barrel brew house while maintaining a strong commitment to small-batch brewing philosophy. Owner Tim Myers continues to honor the brewery's nano roots through initiatives like One Barrel Wednesdays, dedicated to experimental and limited-release brews that keep the creative spirit alive. The brewery operates two locations: its original Denver taproom at 1330 Zuni Street, featuring a spacious outdoor biergarten with seating for 80 guests, large umbrellas, cooling misters, and a dog-friendly atmosphere, as well as a second location in Buena Vista, Colorado. Strange Craft Beer Company has earned a strong reputation in the Colorado craft beer community, having taken home multiple prestigious industry awards including four Great American Beer Festival medals and two World Beer Cup honors, among them a 2014 World Beer Cup Gold Award for its Cherry Kriek. The brewery produces a diverse lineup of craft beers spanning multiple styles, including American-style pale ales, IPAs, Imperial IPAs, barleywines, Belgian farmhouse ales, and fruit ales. Signature offerings include the Strange Pale Ale, brewed with Maris Otter, Carafoam, and Belgian Cara 20 malts alongside Amarillo, Cascade, and Simcoe hops; the Breakfast Grapefruit IPA, a citrus-forward hop bomb featuring Citra and Amarillo hops; the 1000 Barrels IIPA, an Imperial IPA loaded with over three pounds of hops per barrel; the Dr. Strangelove Barleywine, a complex, high-alcohol brew with dried fruit and toffee notes; the Le Bruit du Diable Farmhouse Ale, a bold Belgian-style ale; and the award-winning Cherry Kriek, a Belgian Blonde Ale packed with cherries. The brewery serves as a destination for Colorado beer enthusiasts and is conveniently located near the 10th and Osage Light Rail station and a local bike path, making it accessible by multiple forms of transportation.
