About

Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards is a family-owned winery nestled in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine country, established in 1985 by Jerry and Elaine Hazlitt. Located on Seneca Lake, the winery has become one of the most well-known names among Seneca Lake wineries, dedicated to producing outstanding wines from some of the best land in the Finger Lakes region. The winery is famous for creating Red Cat, which has become the number one selling wine in New York State, producing hundreds of thousands of gallons annually. Hazlitt 1852 operates two locations: the main Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards & Winery in Hector, NY, and Hazlitt Red Cat Cellars in Naples, NY. The company offers three distinct product lines: Hazlitt Estate Wines featuring high-quality traditional wines, Red Cat Wines described as sweet, fun, high-quality take-anywhere wines, and Cider Tree products that are crisp, pure, local, and authentic ciders. The winery provides comprehensive visitor experiences including wine tastings at $10 per person with six wine, cider, or wine seltzer selections, accommodates large groups, buses, and limos, and offers reservations for groups of eight or more. Hazlitt 1852 has earned numerous awards and accolades including the Governor's Cup for their Solera Sherry at the 2022 New York Wine Classic, N.Y. Spiced Cider Producer of the Year for their Cider Tree Cinnamon Spice, and Medal of Excellence for Red Cat at the Jefferson Cup International. The winery serves wine enthusiasts, tourists visiting the Finger Lakes region, and consumers seeking accessible, high-quality New York wines and ciders. Their commitment to quality winemaking combined with their welcoming tasting room experiences has established them as a premier destination along the Seneca Lake wine trail, attracting both novice wine drinkers and experienced connoisseurs looking to explore the best of Finger Lakes viticulture.
