Flying Machine Brewing Company is a family-owned craft brewery headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina, founded in 2016 by North Carolina native Grant Steadman. Born from a spirit of adventure and a belief in creative experimentation, the brewery draws inspiration from North Carolina's historic legacy of innovation—most notably its association with the dawn of flight—and channels that ethos into every aspect of its beer-making process. All beers are brewed and packaged on-site in Wilmington, reflecting a commitment to local production and community roots. The brewery operates multiple consumer-facing locations, including its Randall Parkway Taproom, which serves as its flagship gathering space, experimentation lab, and community hub. A second location, the Flying Machine Oyster Bar, blends the brewery's craft beer lineup with fresh coastal seafood and craft cocktails, extending the brand's reach into the food-and-beverage dining segment. Flying Machine's portfolio spans a wide range of beer styles, with particular emphasis on IPAs, lagers, and sours. The brewing team applies rigorous attention to detail across the full production process—from water chemistry and grain selection to fermentation curve management and cold-side processing—resulting in beers that are described as clean, complex, and intentionally crafted. The taplist is notably extensive, reflecting the brewery's dedication to variety and ongoing experimentation with new styles and techniques. Distribution extends beyond the taproom, with Flying Machine beers available through a regional retail network spanning the Carolinas and beyond. The brewery provides a zip-code-based beer finder tool to help consumers locate retail stockists. In addition to its brewing and retail operations, Flying Machine Brewing Company offers event hosting and private venue services at its taproom, accommodating gatherings and receptions of varying sizes. The brewery has cultivated a loyal following among both local Wilmington residents and visitors to the Cape Fear and Wrightsville Beach coastal region, positioning itself as a destination brand with strong community ties and growing regional distribution.
