Federal Jacks

Federal Jacks, operating under the Kennebunkport Brewing Company (KBC) brand, is an award-winning brewpub and restaurant located in Kennebunk, Maine. Established in 1992 by entrepreneur Fred Forsley and master brewer Alan Pugsley, it holds a notable place in Maine's craft beer history as one of the state's first brew pubs. The establishment was built on the historic site of Kennebunk's 19th century shipyards, where famous schooners were once constructed. The restaurant and brewery take their name from one of the most celebrated ships built on that site in 1908, the Federal Jack. Federal Jacks is widely recognized as the birthplace of Shipyard Brewing Company's award-winning line of handcrafted ales. The success and growing demand for its ales led to the founding of Shipyard Brewing Company in Portland, Maine in 1994, which has since become one of the most recognized craft breweries in the northeastern United States. As a brewpub, Federal Jacks combines on-site craft beer production with a full-service restaurant experience, offering guests house-brewed ales alongside a food menu. The venue operates seven days a week and serves as a destination for both locals and visitors to the Kennebunkport region. Its legacy in the Maine craft brewing scene, combined with its picturesque waterfront location and historical significance, makes it a distinctive establishment in the regional hospitality and craft beverage landscape.
