Ceremony Botanical Brewing

Ceremony Botanical Brewing is an independent craft brewery based in Austin, Texas, specializing in a distinctive category of botanical beers that center the plant as the primary architect of each recipe. Unlike conventional craft breweries that begin with a beer style and incorporate botanicals as secondary additions, Ceremony inverts the process entirely — building every recipe from the ground up around the sensory character, cultural history, and intrinsic properties of a featured botanical ingredient. The brewery operates under the philosophy of 'Botanical Craft for the Intentional Life,' positioning its products as modern ritual beverages that draw on centuries-old gathering traditions from cultures around the world. Current offerings include the Hibiscus Ale, a deep ruby-hued ale featuring whole hibiscus flowers with tart cranberry and pomegranate notes complemented by orange peel; the Pea Butterfly Ale, brewed with butterfly pea flower, a botanical prominent in Southeast Asian traditions, producing a naturally deep-blue-violet pour rich in anthocyanins; the Matcha Pilsner, brewed with stone-ground ceremonial-grade matcha and rice for a crisp, clean body with herbal and umami complexity; and the Mate Botanical Rice Lager, inspired by the South American yerba mate tradition and developed in collaboration with a brewer from Paraguay where mate culture is deeply communal. All beers are hand-brewed using time-honored techniques, with a signature rice lager base frequently employed to keep the body light and clean, ensuring the botanical profile remains the centerpiece of the sensory experience. The brewery uses real, whole botanical ingredients — not extracts or flavorings — differentiating its products from the broader flavored beer market. Ceremony draws philosophical parallels to historical brewing traditions, including medieval monastic brewing and ancient Sumerian fermentation, framing each pour as a craft act of devotion rather than industrial production. Currently available at Hi Sign Brewery in Austin, Texas, Ceremony targets a modern, mindful consumer base seeking functional, botanically expressive beverages that serve as an alternative or complement to conventional craft beer.
