Brucato Spirits is a California-based craft distillery operating out of the Mission District of San Francisco. Originally founded under the Brucato Amaro brand, the company has expanded its portfolio beyond its flagship amaro lineup to encompass a broader range of California-inspired spirits, including gin, kumquat liqueurs, and seasonal small-batch experimental releases. The rebranding to Brucato Spirits reflects this evolution while retaining the brand's core identity and commitment to California ingredients and terroir.

The distillery's product portfolio centers on handcrafted amaros — Italian-style herbal liqueurs — made with botanicals sourced directly from California farmers, local produce dealers, direct importers, and two trusted herb distributors based in San Francisco and Monterey. Key botanical ingredients include yerba santa, spearmint, cardamom, bay laurel, and tarragon, many of which are native or locally grown in California's diverse landscapes, from chaparral to woodlands. The company deliberately avoids the use of extracts (with limited exceptions such as vanilla) and minimizes filtration and processing to preserve the natural character and variability of its ingredients season to season.

Among its notable product lines is the Brucato Reserve Series, a collection of barrel-aged spirits that represents the distillery's most refined expressions. These limited releases begin with core spirit macerations that are then rested in select whiskey barrels — including Wild Turkey Rye Whiskey barrels — for months to years. The aging process transforms the botanical profiles, introducing layered notes of anise, cinnamon, and oak while harmonizing with native California herbs. The Reserve Chaparral, for example, is a 46% ABV expression aged in a 53-gallon Wild Turkey Rye Whiskey barrel, blended with a secondary batch aged in 15-gallon new oak barrels to add depth and a rich mouthfeel.

The distillery recently expanded its Mission District facility, enabling an increased cadence of small-batch releases throughout the year. This expansion supports both the flagship product lineup and the experimental Reserve Series, allowing the team to explore new barrel types, botanical combinations, and seasonal expressions. The brand also operates Bar Brucato, a tasting room where products are available for direct pickup.

Brucato Spirits ships its products nationwide and targets both the premium spirits retail market and cocktail-forward on-premise accounts. Its products are positioned as natural, terroir-driven spirits that reflect the diversity of California's botanical landscape, appealing to consumers and bartenders interested in artisanal, regionally inspired liqueurs and craft spirits.
