Boichik Bagels

Boichik Bagels is a Bay Area-based artisan bagel company founded by Emily, who grew up in New Jersey with an appreciation for authentic New York-style bagels. Drawing inspiration from iconic institutions like H&H Bagels and Zabar's on the Upper West Side, the company was established with the mission of bringing true New York-style bagels to the West Coast. The bakery produces hand-crafted bagels using traditional methods that replicate the dense, chewy texture and distinctive crust characteristic of classic East Coast bagels — a quality that has earned the brand enthusiastic praise from transplanted New Yorkers and New Jersey natives throughout California. Boichik Bagels operates a growing multi-location retail footprint across the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles, with stores in Berkeley (two locations, including a dedicated Bagel Factory production and retail site), Palo Alto, Larkspur, Santa Clara, San Francisco (three locations: Sacramento Street, Fillmore, and FiDi Battery), Los Gatos, Concord, Los Feliz, and Downtown Los Angeles. Products include its flagship New York-style bagels along with house-made accompaniments and seasonal specialty items. One notable seasonal offering is a Matzo Bark product — matzo covered in house-made caramel, Guittard chocolate, sliced almonds, and flake salt — available as a limited-time item during the Passover season. The company also offers cream cheese and other traditional bagel accompaniments at its retail locations. Boichik Bagels supports both in-store and online commerce, offering local pickup and delivery through individual store locations, as well as nationwide shipping of its bagels, enabling customers across the United States to access its products. A gift card program is available for e-gifting, further supporting its direct-to-consumer retail model. The Berkeley Bagel Factory location serves as the primary production hub and features community programming including Mahjong Mondays and Bagel Talks on Saturday mornings, reflecting the brand's engagement with its local community. The company has developed a loyal following among consumers who seek an authentic alternative to the generally softer, less distinctive bagels commonly found on the West Coast.
