PRESS RELEASE posted by Wyoming Whiskey

KIRBY, Wyo. –– Wyoming Whiskey, the state’s first legal distillery, proudly introduces State of the Union, a limited-edition straight bourbon whiskey created to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence. Inspired by the grit, resolve, and independent spirit that have shaped the nation for two and a half centuries, the release honors both America’s history and the enduring character of the American West.

In 2026, the United States marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. What began as a union of states built on determination and conviction expanded westward through generations of people willing to build, endure, and stand their ground. Wyoming joined that union in 1890 as the 44th state, defined by wide-open spaces, rugged landscapes, and a culture rooted in self-reliance. State of the Union pays tribute to that legacy.

“This anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on what endures—the land, the people, and the spirit of independence that continues to define America,” says Wyoming Whiskey Co-Founder David DeFazio. “State of the Union is our way of raising a glass to that shared history and the values that helped shape the West.”

Aged for six years and bottled at 98 proof, State of the Union opens with aromas of raspberry and soft lemon, rounded out by a touch of sweet tea. On the palate, notes of peaches and raspberries are layered with white chocolate and brown sugar, leading to a finish marked by candied ginger and cherry balanced by smooth milk chocolate.

Like all Wyoming Whiskey expressions, State of the Union is shaped by the unique conditions of the Big Horn Basin. The whiskey is crafted using locally sourced non-GMO grains from Wyoming farmers, pure limestone water drawn from aquifers near the distillery, and aged in newly charred oak barrels while enduring the region’s dramatic climate shifts.
