Athlete-owned clean hydration brand Coco5 is expanding its lineup for the first time since launching in 2011 with the debut of a new flavor, Grape. Known for its coconut water–based electrolyte formula, Coco5's newest addition offers a modern take on one of the beverage aisle's most nostalgic flavors, without the artificial dyes, high fructose corn syrup, or synthetic additives historically associated with grape drinks.
Fifteen years in the making, the new flavor marks a significant milestone for Coco5, which has intentionally maintained a tight SKU strategy, focusing on quality over quantity when it comes to formulations and flavors. Owned by a roster of professional athletes and media figures—including Devin Booker, D'Angelo Russell, Charles Barkley, and Michael Wilbon—Coco5 offers a healthy alternative to legacy sports drinks. Made with 26% coconut water, real ingredients, and five naturally occurring electrolytes, the beverage is vegan and free from artificial dyes and additives. It delivers functional hydration for a range of everyday occasions, from workouts and travel to recovery and even the morning after a long night out.
Grape joins Coco5's six original flavors: Cherry, Passionfruit, Limon, Orange, Pineapple, and Coconut. These were originally formulated in the Chicago Blackhawks locker room by longtime Head Trainer Mike Gapski as a way to boost player hydration and recovery without artificial ingredients. Beyond the shelf, Coco5 also maintains a national partnership with the American Cancer Society, with a portion of proceeds from every bottle supporting cancer prevention and treatment initiatives.
Grape will begin rolling out exclusively at Sprouts starting March 1, 2026, supported by in-store activations and sampling initiatives. As hydration continues to expand beyond traditional athletic use into daily wellness routines, the new flavor reflects both consumer demand for nostalgia and a shift toward cleaner, ingredient-conscious functional drinks.
