Still Austin Whiskey Co is a grain-to-glass craft whiskey distillery based in Austin, Texas, founded by Cleveland Seals and his son Chris Seals. The company broke ground in 2014, began distilling in 2017, and released its first straight bourbon whiskey in 2020. Operating from a world-class distillery in the heart of Austin, the company mills, mashes, distills, barrels, ages, and bottles every drop of its whiskey entirely in-house in Central Texas.
Still Austin is one of the few distilleries in Texas — and among a rare group nationally — committed to a true grain-to-glass production model. One hundred percent of the grains used are sourced from Texas farmers, with primary grains including white corn, brasetto rye, wildfire malted barley, and malted blue corn. A key supplier is Lonestar Family Farms, a third-generation Texas family farm focused on conservation and organic practices. This commitment to local grain sourcing gives each expression a distinct Texas terroir, shaped further by the aging process in the Texas Hill Country's erratic Central Texas climate.
The company's product portfolio includes a range of premium spirits: The Musician Straight Bourbon Whiskey, The Artist Straight Rye Whiskey, Cask Strength Bourbon Whiskey (bottled at 118 proof), Cask Strength Rye Whiskey, The Naturalist American Gin (crafted with twelve botanicals), and limited-release expressions such as the Rare Stock Double Oaked Malted Blue Corn Bourbon Whiskey. The spirits are developed under the expertise of Master Blender Nancy Fraley.
Each flagship product label features original artwork hand-painted by world-renowned Austin artist Marc Burkhardt, reinforcing the brand's deep connection to Austin's creative and cultural identity. The brand ethos celebrates musicians, visionaries, artists, and everyday dreamers, positioning its whiskeys as expressions of Austin's vibrant soul.
The distillery operates as a public-facing experience destination, open daily for tastings, tours, live music, and private group events. It also hosts Antone's Stage at Still Austin, a partnership celebrating Austin's live music heritage. The company has received notable critical acclaim from outlets including UPROXX and specialty whiskey media, with reviewers praising the complexity, spice, and long finish of its expressions.
Still Austin competes on a national and potentially international level, challenging the conventional notion that world-class bourbon must originate from Kentucky. Its rigorous production standards, locally sourced ingredients, and artisan craftsmanship position it as a leading producer in the emerging Texas whiskey category.
