Presidential Brewing Company

Presidential Brewing is a craft brewery and full-service restaurant located in Portage, Michigan, serving the greater Kalamazoo area. Founded by three brothers and their father whose tradition of "New Beer Fridays" evolved into a passion for brewing original craft beers, the company has built its identity around community, fun, and approachable beer culture. The brewery is best known for its playful, president-themed beer names — a concept born organically from a home-brewing session that produced the original "Oatbama Stout," a riff on an oatmeal stout. That naming convention expanded into a full lineup of punny, presidential-inspired craft beer names, giving the brand a distinctive and memorable identity in a competitive regional craft beer market.

The taproom and beer garden were intentionally designed to foster community and conversation, positioning the brewery as a neighborhood gathering place rather than just a drinking establishment. The on-site restaurant serves an elevated American bar food menu that includes smash burgers, homemade pizzas, chicken sandwiches, tots, and additional lunch and dinner offerings. Food is prepared in-house, and takeout ordering is available through an online platform.

Beyond beer and food, Presidential Brewing operates a robust live entertainment and events calendar. The brewery hosts weekly Karaoke Bingo and Triple Threat Trivia nights at no cover charge, as well as ticketed live music performances through its Beer Garden Sessions series, which features local and regional acts on a dedicated stage with custom lighting and a themed dance floor. Recurring special events include Beer Release Parties, Presidents Day celebrations, Sweatpants-A-Palooza, brewery yoga sessions, and dueling piano nights, among others. This programming strategy positions the brewery as a multi-use entertainment venue as much as a craft beer destination.

Presidential Brewing targets local consumers in the Portage and Kalamazoo, Michigan area, with a focus on building a loyal, returning customer base through hospitality, entertainment, and a consistent brand voice rooted in humor and approachability. The brewery's story-driven origin and strong community orientation differentiate it within the crowded Southwest Michigan craft beer landscape.
