Paulaner Brauerei GmbH & Co. KGaA

Paulaner is one of Germany's most storied and internationally recognized breweries, with roots tracing back to 1634 when Franciscan monks at the Neudeck ob der Au monastery in Munich first brewed what would become the legendary Paulaner Salvator. Operating under the strict German Reinheitsgebot (beer purity law) of 1516 since its earliest days, the brewery has grown from a monastic craft operation into a globally distributed beer brand exported to more than 80 countries worldwide. The company is headquartered in Munich, Bavaria, and remains deeply connected to its regional heritage, maintaining a prominent presence at the annual Munich Oktoberfest and the traditional Salvatorprobe event. Paulaner's product portfolio spans a wide range of beer styles and beverages, including Weißbiere (wheat beers), Hellbiere (pale lagers), Bierspezialitäten (specialty beers), Biermischgetränke (beer mixed drinks), and alkoholfreie Biere (non-alcoholic beers). Beyond beer, the brand also produces soft drinks under the Paulaner Spezi, Paulaner Limo, and Paulaner Cola sub-brands, broadening its appeal across beverage categories. The brewery's founding recipe for Paulaner Salvator, developed by Brother Barnabas (Valentin Stephan Still) in 1773, continues to serve as the basis for the product to this day, underscoring the brand's commitment to tradition and consistency. Following secularization in 1806, Franz Xaver Zacherl took ownership of the brewery and modernized and expanded its operations, setting the stage for its commercial growth. Paulaner's brewing heritage, combined with its high level of brewing expertise maintained by professional Braumeisterinnen and Braumeister (brew masters), positions the company as a benchmark for Bavarian brewing quality. The brand's international reach, combined with its strong regional identity, reflects a dual strategy of global distribution and authentic local craftsmanship that distinguishes it within the competitive premium beer market.
