Kopper's Chocolate

Kopper's Chocolate has been one of the most respected specialty panners of gourmet chocolates and specialty confections in the world for over 85 years. Founded in 1937 in New York City's Greenwich Village by Fred 'Pappi' Stern, who fled Nazi Germany, and European chocolatier David Kopper, the company combines old world quality and time-honored production techniques with modern high-tech capabilities. Kopper's was a pioneer in the chocolate industry, being the first in the U.S. to make chocolate lentils and mint lentils (predating M&M's), the first to combine chocolate and coffee with Mocha Beans, and creators of unique liquid-center cordials, chocolate espresso beans, and chocolate gummy bears. The company is a six-time award winner for Fancy Food Show Chocolate Of The Year and produces award-winning panned chocolates known as 'dragees.' Kopper's was also the first chocolate company to produce kosher chocolates under national supervision and focused on sophisticated semisweet and bittersweet chocolates when the market was predominantly milk chocolate. In 1980, the company relocated within Greenwich Village for better facilities, and since the mid-1990s, the third generation Alexander family (Leslye and Jeff Alexander) has led the company. Kopper's was acquired by Nuts.com in 2016 but remains a third-generation family-owned business, now located in Cranford, New Jersey, continuing to create innovative gourmet chocolate treats while maintaining its traditions of excellence and creativity in specialty confections.
