Hopsters

Hopsters is a community craft brewery and brew-your-own experience located in Newton, Massachusetts, founded by husband-and-wife team Lee and Karen Cooper. Born out of Lee Cooper's love for the cask ales and craft beer culture he grew up with in Liverpool, England, the brewery was established to create a communal space where beer enthusiasts could experiment with brewing, learn the craft, and enjoy the process alongside fellow aficionados. The vision centers on bringing people together through the shared appreciation of handcrafted, small-batch beer.

The brewery operates with state-of-the-art brewing equipment and is committed to using all-natural, locally sourced ingredients with no additives or preservatives. Hopsters has partnered with local food producers for all ingredients, including charcuterie meats, reinforcing a strong commitment to supporting the local business ecosystem and regional craft beer community. The brewery positions itself as a hub for craft beer awareness and education in the greater Boston area.

Heading up brewing operations is Jeff Rowe, a Gloucester native with more than a decade of experience in the craft beer industry. Rowe began his career at Harpoon Brewery, where over seven years he held roles spanning bottling line operations, filter and maintenance technician work, brewing, and distribution. He subsequently served as Head Brewer at Cape Cod Beer, managing all aspects of production, packaging, and recipe development. His diverse background across nearly every facet of craft brewing informs the innovative, small-batch artisanal beers produced at Hopsters.

Hopsters offers three signature flagship beers: Market Square Tripel (a Belgian Triple), Imperialist IPA (an Imperial IPA), and Endless Vacation (a Belgian Farmhouse Ale). These beers are brewed and bottled on-site and are available for purchase directly at the brewery, as well as through local restaurants and liquor stores. The lineup reflects a commitment to style diversity and flavor complexity, appealing to a broad range of craft beer palates.

Beyond production, Hopsters functions as an experiential brewery destination, offering group brewing sessions and an on-site bar. The facility is designed to accommodate both large groups and smaller gatherings, emphasizing education, fun, and community engagement as core pillars of the brand.
