Hedonistas de la Fe is an artisanal mezcal producer based in Matatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico, crafting small-batch, additive-free mezcals rooted in four generations of family tradition. The brand is built around the expertise of Maestro Mezcalero Kaín Santiago, whose family has been central to Oaxaca's mezcal heritage for decades, maintaining deep relationships with local jimadors and farming communities across the region.

The company specializes in wild and cultivated agave mezcals, sourcing varieties including Tepeztate, Cuishe, Tobalá, and Espadín. Wild agave plants are hand-harvested by trained jimadors at peak maturity — some varieties growing for up to 22 years — ensuring each batch captures the full terroir of its origin. The harvesting process demands precision: jimadors use a traditional coa to trim the agave piñas with exactness, as improper cuts can result in lost flavor or unwanted bitterness.

Production follows a rigorous, time-honored process. Harvested piñas are slow-roasted in a traditional tapada, an earthen pit oven lined with river stone and fueled by encino or mesquite wood. The piñas are cooked underground for several days, caramelizing their natural sugars and imparting the gentle smokiness characteristic of artisanal mezcal. After roasting, the softened agave is milled using a tahona — a large stone wheel — which slowly crushes the plant without over-processing the fibers, preserving the full flavor profile. The crushed mash is then transferred to open-air wooden vats, where wild, naturally occurring yeast initiates fermentation without any additives or industrial yeasts. Distillation draws on water from a 60-year-old palenque well, noted for its purity and low mineral content, allowing the agave's truest expression to come forward.

Hedonistas de la Fe's product lineup has earned significant critical recognition, including a Double Gold Medal for its Cuishe Mezcal, where all judges unanimously awarded gold ratings. The Tepeztate expression has been featured in GAYOT's Best Mezcals list, and the brand has been praised across publications for its balance of smokiness, fruit, earthiness, and complexity. Flavor profiles across the range include notes of brown sugar, roasted coffee, tropical fruit, citrus, florals, pepper, and creamy apple.

The company operates with a closed-loop production philosophy: agave leaves fuel the roasting fires, and leftover bagasso is returned to the fields as fertilizer. Cultivated Espadín agave is replanted to ensure the sustainability of future harvests. Hedonistas de la Fe mezcals were previously available only in Mexico and have since expanded to international markets, positioning themselves as a premium, artisanal offering for spirits connoisseurs, gifting, and on-premise cocktail programs.
