Hawaii Ulu Producer's Cooperative

Hawai?i ?Ulu Cooperative is a farmer-owned cooperative that specializes in sustainable cultivation and distribution of traditional Hawaiian staple crops, particularly breadfruit (?ulu) and other Polynesian canoe crops. The cooperative works with over 100 member-farmers across four Hawaiian Islands (Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island) to grow and distribute nutrient-dense, culturally significant foods that support local food security and agricultural sustainability. Their mission focuses on making it easy for consumers to incorporate Hawaii's delicious staple crops into every meal through recipe-ready frozen food products available in retail locations. The cooperative emphasizes sustainable farming practices on small family farms and promotes the rediscovery of ancient Hawaiian agricultural systems. They offer educational resources about traditional Polynesian crops, including the 23 plants that voyagers brought to Hawaii over a thousand years ago. The company operates both a consumer-facing brand (eatbreadfruit.com) and a farmer resource website (ulu.coop) that provides membership information, production guides, educational videos, and community support. Their products are marketed as healthy, sustainable alternatives that diversify diets while supporting local Hawaiian agriculture and cultural preservation. The cooperative guarantees customer satisfaction with a money-back promise and focuses on connecting consumers with the nutritional and environmental benefits of traditional Hawaiian staple crops.
