About
Grand Teton Distillery is a family-owned and operated craft distillery founded in 2011 and located in Driggs, Idaho, situated at an elevation of 6,500 feet in Teton Valley on the western slope of the Grand Teton mountain range. The distillery specializes in the production of premium, award-winning vodkas and whiskeys crafted entirely from local and regional ingredients, most notably certified Idaho® potatoes and mineral-rich glacial snowmelt sourced from the Teton mountain range.
The flagship product, Grand Teton Potato Vodka, is produced using Idaho® potatoes and pure Rocky Mountain spring water. The spirit undergoes small-batch distillation equivalent to 20 passes, with each step carefully monitored for quality control. It is then freeze filtered six times through a combination of charcoal and garnet crystal sand, a proprietary process designed to deliver an exceptionally clean, smooth, and high-quality finished spirit. In addition to its core potato vodka, the distillery produces flavored vodkas and whiskeys, with flavored expressions incorporating real northwest-sourced fruit rather than synthetic chemical flavorings.
Grand Teton Distillery sources hundreds of thousands of Idaho® potatoes annually from farms to the west and south of Teton Valley, reflecting a deep commitment to utilizing locally and regionally available raw materials. The distillery draws its proofing water from a deep well recharged by Teton snowmelt, water that is naturally pure enough to require only filtration and no chemical treatment.
From a production standpoint, the distillery operates with a notable focus on waste reduction and resource efficiency. Residual mash from fermentation and distillation is donated to local ranchers and farmers for use as animal feed and agricultural fertilizer, resulting in a near zero-waste production process. Low-volatility alcohol fractions, known as heads, are collected and repurposed as biofuel and ice melt. Cooling water is recirculated via a buried 1,000-gallon tank rather than discharged, conserving thousands of gallons of water annually. The facility is powered in part by 42 south-facing solar panels that are grid-tied, feeding surplus electricity back into the local grid.
The distillery is positioned along Highway 33, part of the Yellowstone-Teton Scenic Loop, a route recognized by National Geographic as one of the ten most scenic drives in the American West. The region attracts over four million tourists annually, providing the distillery with significant direct-to-consumer visibility from visitors to Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, and Jackson Hole. The facility also serves as a Tesla electric vehicle charging station, further broadening its appeal to regional travelers.
Grand Teton Distillery represents a vertically integrated, terroir-driven approach to American craft spirits, combining small-batch production techniques, locally sourced agricultural inputs, and a strong regional identity rooted in the natural landscape of eastern Idaho.
